The VCA 1790 Club (VCA 1790) is the successor to the famous VCA 1790 Rifle and Pistol Club (VCA 1790 R&P).

VCA 1790 R&P, incorporated in 1916, facilitated the Corps’ participation with the New York Guard in the First Provisional Regiment, by allowing the Corps to purchase surplus 1895 Krag rifles from the Director of Civilian Marksmanship (today’s Civilian Marksmanship Program) and train with them. This helped insure that the Corps was fully qualified in marksmanship skills and ready to be deployed to guard the Aqueduct in August 1917.

Today’s VCA 1790, incorporated in 2012, serves the same purpose, conducting frequent rifle and pistol training for the Corps by NRA-certified personnel.
