WHO:  Color Guard & Field Music.  CG will be carrying National Colors, NY State Flag, and VCA Flag with harnesses.

WHAT:  Lower Manhattan Historical Association / Evacuation Day

WHERE: Event Begins at Fraunces Tavern, 54 Pearl Street, New York, NY (New Location).  Contingent will parade to Bowling Green where the British Flag will be raised, lowered, folded, and presented as has been in prior events.  Once concluded the contingent will march back to Fraunces Tavern for lunch.

WHEN: 24 November 2021 (Wed), Report Time 1130hrs – duration 2 hours +/-

WHY: Support of LMHA

UOD: VCA Parade Dress with sabers and white gloves for all.  AR 670-1 grooming standards apply, and will be enforced.

On November 25, 1783 the British occupying garrison evacuated New York City at the and General George Washington, Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army, marched his troops into Lower Manhattan, thereby liberating New York City from British occupation.  Evacuation Day was a major New York City Holiday from 1783 until 1916 when it was discontinued during the first World War.  It was revived in 2014 when the LMHA, after the Sons of the Revolution’s Evacuation Day Dinner, decided to reinstitute the flag raising on the day that it was first raised.
